My Yoga journey began in 2002 when I experienced the powerful physical and spiritual transformation that occurs through the Yoga practice. Working as a Geologist I traveled the world researching and explaining the interplay of processes involved in creating the landscape of the Earth’s surface. I quickly realized that Yoga and Meditation is the spiritual science of exploring the interplay of thought, energy and action that explains how we choose to show up in the world.
I began teaching Yoga in 2009 to encourage students to embrace the power of positive thinking to create a loving relationship with their Self on the Yoga mat to improve how they show up in the world. I know that Self-love enhances our connections and elevates our contribution to our communities and to the global collective consciousness. Yoga transformed my life by strengthening my sense of Self and my physical body, so I am inspired by my own spiritual evolution to share the gift of Yoga with the world. I record Spoken Word Yoga flows, Podcasts and meditations infused with positive affirmations to inspire listeners to explore the infinite possibilities awaiting us in the kingdom of our minds.
I purposefully structure the sequencing of postures during each class to rejuvenate mind, body, and spirit by addressing all imbalances and discomfort in the body to relieve pain, tension, and anxiety. The Vinyasa flow I share with students uses the power of the breath to stimulate the Chakras by combining the physically rigorous practice of the yoga asanas with a mental “work-in” that purifies and reinvigorates the soul. The Raja Deep Stretch Meditation class guides students through hip and shoulder opening sequences on the floor to permit gravity to do the physical work in relieving tension in the body while the student is free to close their eyes and vacation in the playground of the mind. Every year I lead life-shifting Yoga retreats in magnificent locations around the world that inspire participants to live a life defined by extraordinary happiness while making positive transformations in their daily lives and relationships.
As in life, balance in our Yoga practice is more about our conscious awareness of the present moment than it is about physically muscling our way through the pose or the circumstance presented to us. I believe that Yoga nourishes the Soul and that the time we spend on the mat working on the Self is helping to elevate the collective consciousness in our communities.
Although my educational background is concentrated in Geology, I consider my Self to be a student of the Universe. As with everything in this life, my Yoga practice is constantly evolving, and I make a conscious effort to explore all styles and expressions of Yoga to build and expand both my practice and my ability to communicate the intricacies of the Yoga postures to my students. The powerful Vinyasa and the restorative Raja Yoga classes are the perfect complement for every Body in creating a balance of strength and flexibility while permitting students of all levels to practice together regardless of physical limitations or injuries. I incorporate both Vinyasa and Raja classes during the Yoga retreats I lead around the world that give students the freedom to attain balance of mind, body, and spirit to reinvigorate the Soul while connecting with our Mother Earth in spectacular locations across the globe.
My goal in every class is to enhance each students awareness of the power of their own presence and the power of their contribution to the global collective consciousness, knowing that the work we do on ourselves on the Yoga mat is preparation for the work we do in our communities and the world. The energy we create in our own lives will shift the collective consciousness of the global community, so we must make a positive contribution and BE the source of positive energy in our own lives to leave behind a legacy of love.
